OUTERNATIONAL ARTISTS n°40 by 𝘚𝘵𝘦𝘷𝘦 𝘏𝘦𝘯𝘸𝘰𝘰𝘥

The music in programme 40 is very British. Even the World Music is British, and given the country’s reputation for appropriatng or downright stealing anything they fancied for much of the 18th & 19th centuries, that’s surely no surprise, though here the thievery has had better consequences. Launching in with the British contender for all-time greatest folk/jazz vocalist, we follow with the non-Balkans who played World Music before there was “World Music”, some cheeky Cockneys, a Senegalese/French/American fusion we’re claiming because it happened in my home city of Bath, and an entire genre which we will claim for Britain, though i’d not look too hard at the detail if I were you.

La musica nel programma 40 di Outernational Artists è molto britannica. Anche la World Music è britannica, e data la reputazione del paese oltremanica di essersi appropriato o addirittura rubato di tutto ciò che gli piaceva per gran parte dei secoli XVIII e XIX, non è sicuramente una sorpresa, anche se qui il furto ha avuto conseguenze migliori. Iniziamo con il contendente britannico al titolo di miglior cantante folk/jazz di tutti i tempi, seguiamo con i non balcanici che suonavano World Music prima che esistesse “World Music”, alcuni sfacciati Cockney, una fusione senegalese/francese/americana che rivendichiamo perché è successo nella mia città natale, Bath, ed è un intero genere che rivendicheremo per la Gran Bretagna, anche se fossi in te non guarderei troppo attentamente ai dettagli.
