Outernational Artists #45

There is nothing so welcome as an easy option when you’re feeling busy, and just because this one didn’t turn out as easy as assumed doesn’t mean we still won’t have a go. This month, Mr Henwood claims he’s doing an account of the various artistic purposes to which the 12 inch single has been put. But really he’s just playing a few favourites – not a lot wrong with that, of course – ending with an album by early ‘80s Bristol pol & pot party posse Rip Rig & Panic, who have the triple qualification of issuing albums as pairs of 12 inch 45s, being named after a Roland Kirk album, and having the great Don Cherry as a stepdad.

Non c’è niente di più gradito di scegliere un’opzione facile quando ci si sente impegnati, e solo perché questa non si è rivelata facile come si pensava, non significa che non ci proveremo comunque. Questo mese, il signor Henwood afferma di voler fare un resoconto dei vari scopi artistici a cui è stato destinato un singolo da 12 pollici. Ma in realtà sta solo suonando alcuni dei suoi artisti preferiti e ovviamente non c’è molto di sbagliato in questo. conclude OA45 con un album dei primi anni ’80 della banda di Bristol pol & pot party, i “Rip Rig & Panic”, che hanno la triplice qualifica di pubblicare album come coppie di 45 giri da 12 pollici, di essere stati chiamati come un album di Roland Kirk e di avere il grande Don Cherry come patrigno.
