OUTERNATIONAL ARTISTS 65 – Steve Henwood – 04_10_2026

It might not be difficult music this time but that doesn’t mean it’s not difficult to write about it. A chunk of the programme is taken up with a 1966 recording Mr Henwood won’t tell us about until the end; then there’s the forgotten album of disco ragas from 1982, and bits from two [is this really necessary?] early ’70s discs from keyboard-dominated prog-rockers Greenslade & Argent.

Some relationship to the modern world is introduced with new albums from Gangbe Brass Band and Ancient Infinity Orchestra, tho’ we don’t actually know much about them bar the pictures. Look at the pictures…

Forse questa volta non si tratta di musica complessa, ma ciò non significa che sia facile scriverne. Una parte consistente del programma è dedicata a una registrazione del 1966 di cui Henwood svelerà i dettagli solo alla fine; ci sono poi l’album dimenticato di “disco-raga” del 1982 e alcuni brani tratti da due dischi [è davvero necessario?] dei primi anni Settanta firmati da Greenslade e Argent, gruppi prog-rock dominati dalle tastiere. Un legame con la contemporaneità emerge grazie ai nuovi album della Gangbe Brass Band e della Ancient Infinity Orchestra, anche se, a dire il vero, non sappiamo molto di loro, a parte le immagini.
